Publishing is in the Seasoning

As we ponder our 2017 release schedule, we realize that autumn, winter, and spring are the book buying seasons, but we also want to publish in the summer too.

The publishing business can be fickle. What is en vogue now, may not be later. So what does a small publisher do? Keep the titles flowing, of course!

As we head into the winter season... December 21st is not that far away... we would like to release titles that go with the seasons. In the Name of Blood and The Descent were great for autumn. That Halloween theme is so popular. 

For winter 2017, Sonoran Dawn likes the thought of people cuddleh up by the fire, with blankets and puppies and hot cocoa, oh my! 

And, probably some zombies....

The vampire crime drama that was released October  16, 2016 will be free until 11:59pm on Halloween. Afterward, the horror novel will then be sold for a fee. So get your copy from our Author Spotlight!

In the Name of Blood Ready for its Debut

Our newest publication: a fiction novel will be available October 16, 2016.  In the Name of Blood will debut as a PDF to the general public for the first time.

Riley Austin believes life is predictable. That is until she helps her friend, Tony, catch the kidnapper of three little boys. While using her sixth sense to find the missing kids, she and Tony are attacked and Riley is taken by Julian, a vampire, who wishes to use her gift for his own purposes.

When he asks for her assistance, Riley discovers a kindred spirit in Julian. Moreover, she discovers that an insane, power-hungry vampire called Wilhelm is at the center of many disappearances. A bond grows between Julian and Riley and is strengthened when she saves his life. For her own protection Julian returns her to the safety of the mortal realm.

What Julian does not realize is that Riley was never going to remain safe...

Back on Track

Sonoran Dawn has two publications coming out for the Halloween season: The Descent and In the Name of Blood. 

Thanks to some technical difficulties, namely illness, we had to postpone the release date of Haunted Arizona, but we are hopeful to publish the first in the series this year. 

Still a chapbook and fiction novel are done and on the way!

Get Your Motor Running

This summer of 2016 has been a busy one.

So far Sonoran Dawn has published ten Nonfiction selections. We will add poetry and fiction with The Descent and In the Name of Blood. We will close out the year with the essay: Religion is Like Owning a Haunted House. 

Then we will be compiling a new list of publications for 2017.

Right now, we have two books going through the last phase of editing and revision.

The Descent is a collection of horror poetry that represents the broad spectrum. Genre poetry includes the dark, depressing, and sometimes humorous situations one can themselves in. Well, it is a darker breed of poetry. 

In the Name of Blood is the first part and debut novel of the author, DL Mullan. A crime drama, horror, and vampire story rolled into one exciting, fast paced novel. The second part will be due out in autumn of 2017,

T Minus Halloween Themed Releases and Counting

Autumn is just around the corner. 

It does not feel like it right now, especially here in the Sonoran Desert, but autumn is on its way. Each day from now until the Winter Solstice will be getting shorter and shorter. We may not see it or feel it until September, but the change in direction has already taken place: today is 5 seconds shorter than yesterday and tomorrow will be 7 seconds shorter than today. 

That brings us to announce our Halloween themed creative writing projects: The Descent and In The Name of Blood. A chapbook and novel will be released in ebook format. One in September and the other will be published in October.

The Descent

This chapbook houses "a darker breed of poetry." Just in time for Halloween! Fan favorites like The Collection, Death Replies to Emily Dickinson, and Breathe will make their presence known. Plus new poetry that has yet to be seen by the general public.
